Mission Statement

To provide Defence with the best hyperbaric service possible.

Vision Statement

The Navy Hospital Hyperbaric Unit will provide quality hyperbaric medicine expertise through training and support for military and civilian diving operations, and will promote hyperbaric services to the community.

What we do

The Navy Hospital's Slark Hyperbaric Unit not only provides diving and hyperbaric medicine expertise to the military, but also offers emergency recompression treatment 24 hours, 7 days a week for Decompression illness ("the bends"), diving related acute hearing loss, and Carbon monoxide poisoning.

The Navy Hospital's Slark Hyperbaric Unit also provides non-urgent Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to the general public (treating elective medical conditions) from Monday to Friday between the normal working hours of (8:00am - 4:00pm)

The Chamber

The Slark Hyperbaric chamber utilises compressed air to pressurise the patients environment to the equivalent pressure they would experience while diving underwater at depths.
