Sgn Cdr Alison Drewry

Surgeon Commander Alison Drewry is a Consultant Specialist in Occupational Medicine RACP. She is Director of Naval Medicine, and Clinical Director at the Navy Hospital's Hyperbaric Unit.
A graduate of the University of Auckland School of Medicine, she joined the Navy in 1991, when she began advanced specialist training in occupational medicine (particularly in diving and aviation).
Since joining the RNZN, Alison has been made a Fellow of the Royal Australasian Faculty of Occupational Medicine, and has undertaken research in diving and hyperbaric topics as well as operational deployments on Ships in South East Asia and the Middle East.
In 1998, she attended the RAN Staff Course in Sydney, from which she graduated with top marks in management and military strategy. She was promoted to Commander later that year.
Alison completed a Masters of Business Administration in 2004 and received a Dean's Award for Excellence. She holds a ministerial appointment as the Medical Convener for civil aviation in New Zealand and also has an honorary senior lectureship in occupational medicine at the University of Auckland. In her spare time she promotes the practice of military medicine through her involvement as Chairperson of various local and Australasian committees concerned with occupational health.
