What We Do

Services

At the Navy Hospital Slark Hyperbaric Unit we provide many services to many different groups of people for many different sorts of reasons.

We provide Hyperbaric recompression or Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to people with the below Acute and Elective conditions as well as providing supporting services such as Transcutanious Studies, Spirometry and Saline Challenges. We can perform commercial and recreational diving medicals and offer bookings for people to experience Nitrogen Narcosis during a 50 metre "Pot Dive".

Acute Conditions

Below is a list of acute conditions that are able to be treated though our services: 

• Decompression Illness (DCI)  and Arterial gas Embolism (AGE)
• Air or Gas Embolism
• Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisioning

Elective Conditions

Below is a list of the elective conditions that can be treated though the Navy Hospital's Slark Hyperbaric Chamber:

• Clostridal Myositis & Myonecrosis (Gas Gangrene)
• Crush Injuries
• Inhancement of healing in selected problem wounds
• Exceptional Blood Loss - Anemia
• Intercranial abscess
• Necrotizing soft tissue infections
• Refractory Osteomyelitis
• Hyperbaric Treatment for Complications of Radiation Therapy
• Skin Grafts and Flaps (Compromised)
• Thermal Burns
